Christmas Fundraising Triumph

We are proud to announce that our Parent Council Christmas stalls last week raised £360.85.  Add this to the amount brought in by the school and nursery's own stalls and the total raised is in the region of £600.  This is a fantastic achievement.  Many thanks again to all who donated, helped out and came along to support us.

A big thank you and festive greetings to all

Many thanks to all of you for your help and support this term.  Despite the bad weather scuppering our fete plans, we put our heads together at the last minute and were able to organise some stalls at the children's concert. The raffle prizes were put to good use in the tombola which was a huge success and the children's hand-made gifts were well received.  The competitions to guess the teddy's birthday and the weight of the cake were both very popular, and our tea towels featuring self-portraits of all the pupils sold very well.

Many thanks to everybody who donated prizes, or helped out on the day.  On behalf of the whole committee, we hope you have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Saturday's Christmas Fete is Cancelled

We're sorry to announce that due to the adverse weather conditions, Saturday's Christmas Fete will not go ahead.  We had been hoping that the weather might improve towards the end of the week but it doesn't seem likely now, and North Lanarkshire Council announced their decision today to cancel all school lets until next Monday.

Thanks to all who offered to help or donate prizes for the raffle.  If we do manage to organise another event later in the month, details will appear here.

Christmas Fete Banner

Many thanks to Iain Bryson from http://www.signsolutions-scotland.com/ for producing our fabulous Christmas Fete banner.  Within 48 hours of contacting Iain, the banner had been designed, printed and was prominently in place in the village.  A very professional job.

Race Night, Friday 12th November 2010

Following the enormous success of our last event in March, we will be having another Race Night on Friday 12th November 2010 in the school hall from 7 - 11pm.

Tickets cost £5 per head and are available now from the school office.

If you've never been to Race Night before, here is some more information -

Who is running the Race Night?
The event is being run by Auchinloch Parent Council to raise funds.  We are using Red Box Entertainment to ensure the night is a success.

How many races will there be on the night?
There will be 5 races with 8 horses in each race.  The races will be projected onto a big screen and we can bet on any horses in each race.

There will also be a camel race at the end.  There will be an auction, and each table can put money together to own a camel in that race.  If your camel wins the race your table will receive half the money raised during the camel race, and the other half will go towards Auchinloch Parent Council funds.

Are races sponsored?
The 5 races have all been sponsored, and a donation of £20 collected from each sponsor.  The money collected will be used to purchase a prize for the winning horse of each race.

Can I buy a horse?
Horses for each race can be purchased for £2.50.  There is no limit to the number of horses you can purchase.  The owner of the winning horse in each race wins the sponsor's prize.

Will there be more fundraising activities on the night?
There will be a number of other fundraising activities on the night.  These will include:

  • Write your name on £1.00.  The winner will receive half the money collected.
  • Guess the celebrity from the picture.
  • Many more...

Please remember that this is a bring your own food and bottle event and that no children will be allowed because alcohol will be consumed on the premises.

Meeting Monday 1st November

The November meeting of the Parent Council will be held at School on 1st November from 6.30 until 8pm.  We will be having an EGM first, to discuss some constitutional changes, followed by Parent Council business.  All welcome.

Rag Bag Collection

Many thanks to all those who donated to the Rag Bag Collection which was held in September.  We raised £184.  Well done!

Introduction

Welcome to our new blog.  I'm Maria Quinn, parent, and office bearer in Auchinloch Primary School Parent Council.  I'm keen to use the internet and as much as possible to reach out to other parents and Parent Council members so we can all keep up to date on what's going on at Auchinloch Primary School.

The Parent Council meets on the first Monday of every month during term time (7-8pm) to share fundraising ideas and discuss any other issues relating to the school and nursery class.  All parents/guardians are welcome to come along and find out what we do.

If you'd like any other information, please talk to us at the school gates, or get in touch here.
